About the Role

Alma Mater International School is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified IGCSE Economics Teacher to join our High School team in Krugersdorp. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Economics lessons aligned with the Cambridge International curriculum. The role requires a teacher who can develop students’ understanding of economic concepts and their ability to apply economic theory to real-world situations. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive, disciplined and academically focused classroom environment while supporting students in achieving strong academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Economics at Cambridge IGCSE level.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, academically rigorous lessons.
  • Prepare students effectively for Cambridge IGCSE examinations.
  • Assess and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain a positive, disciplined and academically focused classroom.
  • Provide individual academic support where required.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental collaboration.
  • Participate in school events and professional-development initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Education; or
  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with a PGCE or recognised teaching qualification.
  • A minimum of three years’ relevant teaching experience.
  • Cambridge International curriculum experience.
  • SACE registration.
  • Legal right to work in South Africa.
  • Availability for full-time, on-site teaching in Krugersdorp.
  • Valid police clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant pre-employment screening, including drug testing where applicable.
