About the Role

Alma Mater International School is seeking a mature, experienced, and inspirational Male Boarding House Master and Leader to live on campus and provide pastoral care, mentorship, and leadership to approximately 60 boys from Grades 7–12. The successful candidate will be a strong disciplinarian who leads with empathy, fairness, and integrity, serving as a trusted role model and father figure. This residential, term-time position focuses on fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive boarding environment where boys are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Administrative responsibilities are managed separately by a dedicated Boarding House Administrator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily pastoral care and mentorship to boarding students.
  • Lead and supervise approximately 60 boys in the boarding house.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and disciplined boarding culture.
  • Support students academically and personally.
  • Build meaningful boarding traditions and a strong sense of community.
  • Be available throughout school terms as part of a residential leadership role.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with teenagers, specifically boys.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and support adolescent boys.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High levels of integrity, maturity, and professionalism.
  • No teaching qualification is required.
  • No classroom teaching duties are expected.
  • Legal right to work in South Africa.
